KILLER PARTY (1986)

Three girls are trying to get into a sorority.  The pledging and partying take place in an old abandoned house.  You can probably figure out the rest by yourself.  Zero gore, lightweight scares, lightning fast nudity, average acting, Paul Bartel in a small role, 80's fashions.  When it's all said and done it's an okay 80's slasher film with some ghost possession thrown in.

The story is kinda bland, but it's really not that bad.  What hurt it the most was that awesome, 80's as fuck, hair metal rock video intro! If the whole film had been as energetic and as imaginative as that video this movie would be a cult classic.  Instead after getting all pumped up in the first few minutes, the rest of the film comes off as a disappointment.  Also why wasn't the girl in the intro the main chick in the film?  She was more attractive than the three leads and she had a better screen presence than all three combined.

Worth watching for slasher completists. Others will probably find it kinda boring.

EYE OF THE TIGER (1986)

Action-superstar Gary Busey has just been released from prison, but when he returns to his small hometown he discovers that it's been taken over by a bunch of dirt bike riding drug runners lead by some dude with a stubby little mohawk that only covers the back of his head.  Weirdo.  Busey don't take too kindly to these helmeted thugs, especially after they kill his wife, so he jumps in his giant truck that's armed with self-loading mortars and self-loading machine guns and goes out to kick ass...along the way he also rapes a dude while dressed as a doctor.  Well, I didn't see that coming!

When I sat down to watch EYE OF THE TIGER I was hoping that the action was going be over the top crazy, but it wasn't.  Instead, it's not even as good as old episodes of "The A-Team".  Zero nudity, ridiculous story and we never get to see any awesome hand-to-hand fighting scenes.  There was one fight towards the end, but it's weak.

Overall, the whole thing is silly, lightweight and forgettable.  For Gary Busey fans only...if there is such a thing.

REFORM SCHOOL GIRLS (1986)

When I was a kid back in the 1980's REFORM SCHOOL GIRLS was legendary (to me at least) thanks to that awesome VHS box I kept sneaking peeks at at my local video store.  Watching it now though it was pretty disappointing.

Opening with some fresh fish entering Pridemore Juvenile Facility, they're stripped, searched and showered before joining the general population, which apparently is just a single large room full of girls.  One of the new girls is ultra-pure and the bad girl dyke gang wants her for their own.  Added to this is the evil warden (Sybil Danning who has very little screen time and never even gets close to naked) and her second-in-command, Edna, who deals with the girls on a more day to day basis.  The usual shit-talking, hair-pulling and fighting takes place, but I just couldn't get into it.  Even the fair amount of nudity didn't help.

What this film needed was a better script, hotter chicks and Divine in the role as Edna!  That would have been awesome!  As it is though, the version I had built up in my mind was way better than the lame one that showed up on my TV.  Worth a watch just to be able to say you've seen it, but I can't imagine wanting to watch it twice.  If you need me I'll be in my room watching ILSA, SHE WOLF OF THE SS.
